Get Involved

Do you love history? Do you have time to spare? If the answer to those questions is yes, then please consider joining the Heritage Centre as a volunteer. We always need more help. Whatever your background, whatever your skills, whether you can spare half a day per week, or a day once a month, we can always find a role for you, and it is a great way to make new friends.

Volunteering can build confidence, help you to learn new skills, and give you a sense of purpose. For some of our volunteers there will be opportunities to go on courses to learn new skills.

We welcome volunteers of any age, race, gender, sexual orientation, background and faith.

If you would like to join us as a volunteer then please use the Contact Us form and we will get back to you.

Volunteer Events

  • Our volunteers meet for tea/coffee* at 11am on the first Monday of the month (the second Monday in January if the first Monday is New Year’s Day) at the New Fountain Inn.

This provides an opportunity for volunteers to get to know each other. Prospective volunteers are welcome to come along to talk to our existing volunteers and find out what volunteering entails.

  • In addition we hold an annual evening social for our volunteers in the Spring each year.

  • Please refer to the Events page to keep abreast of upcoming volunteer events.

*Please note that as the Heritage Centre is a run by a registered charity all beverages are self-funded by the attending volunteers.
